janeanson.com, November 2022

In a vintage where there are plenty of underperforming wines, this is full of pleasure. Real precision, clear crafting of the blue and red berry fruit, set against smoked earth, undergrowth, and crayon, this is a vintage...

Wine Enthusiast, March 2020

An attractive, immediately fruity wine, this also has good tannins. Enticing blackberry flavors give richness as well as freshness. This wine will develop quickly, so drink from 2023. - ROGER VOSS

Decanter, April 2018

Tight but plentiful fruit extraction. The expression is a little less full than in 2016, but there is both finesse and grip to the fine, firmly held tannins as they travel through the palate, accompanying cassis, fern...

jebdunnuck.com, February 2020

This estate continues to make a powerful, ripe style of wine, and their 2017 Chateau Gloria offers plenty of oak as well as terrific cassis fruits, hints of violets, and flowery incense, medium to full body, and a...

(90-92) Espresso bean, cassis, licorice, tobacco and dark cherry fruits are easily available here. The wine is medium bodied, soft, and will be easy to enjoy in its youth. The wine was made from a blend of 61% Cabernet...

Wine Spectator, March 2020

Dark and winey in profile, with steeped plum, blackberry and black currant fruit that is youthfully coiled up, laced with bramble, apple wood and anise notes. Offers a compact finish but the energy is there. Let this...

jamessuckling.com, January 2020

This shows depth. Layers of fruit on a medium body. Juicy and bright with raspberry and cherry character and medium, creamy tannins. Fresh finish. Drink in 2022.

Chateau Gloria is one-of-a-kind, created by Henri Martin who purchased plots piece-by-piece, but exclusively from crus classified in 1855. The 50 hectare vineyard spans three areas: the middle of Beychevelle, the west of Saint-Julien and, on the north, on the border of Pauillac.

The vines include 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot on Gunzian gravel soil over a layer of clay and sand. Average vine age is 40 years.

Chateau Gloria also has a second wine, Chateau Peymartin, produced using the estate's youngest vines.

Chateau Gloria is harvested by hand, with traditional vinification and fermentation in heat-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine matures for 14 months in casks, 40% of them new. Recent vintages have featured jammy fruit, typically prune and black currant, with rich but approachable tannins.
