Part owned by Olivier Bernstein, this 0.42ha parcel has yielded one of his best wines in 2017. The new wood, as ever, is quite assertive, but there's a lot of wine beneath its surface. Focussed, layered and complex, this has plum, raspberry and blueberry fruit with notes of incense and Asian spices. (93-96 points) Two plots vinified together. Clear full purple. The nose is deep and somewhat backward. Time in the glass enables a little more fruit to emerge, along with the classy approach to wood. Then comes a wealth of fruit at the back of the palate, perfect linear tension and a very imposing weight at the finish. Should be an excellent rendition of Mazis, some darker fruit but freshness prevails. Tasted: November 2018.

Dark and brooding, this red is monolithic for the moment, with black cherry, blackberry, iron and earth flavors tightly interwoven with the dense structure. Sandalwood, smoke and spicy oak nuances add detail. Overall this is ripe, balanced and muscular. Be patient. Best from 2024 through 2045. — B.S.
