(91-94 points) Discreet wood serves as a relatively neutral backdrop for the cool, elegant and airy aromas of ripe white orchard fruit, spice and floral scents. A notably more refined palate feel is present on the delicious, stony and enveloping flavors that culminate in a graceful though tightly wound finish that exhibits excellent length. This classy effort is really very stylish.

Located just to the north of Montrachet - and always written without an s at de Montille - the Cailleret parcel is planted with 65-year-old vines and has produced a delicious, vintage-defying wine in 2018. Lemon, lime and orange zest flavours are embellished by notes of aniseed, nutmeg and perfumed, well-integrated 30% new wood.

(90-93 points) One of the most tensile, introverted whites in the cellar is the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets, a medium to full-bodied, chalky and incisive wine redolent of pear, white flowers and crushed rocks. This shows plenty of potential, but it really needs more élevage to show all its cards. - WK

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru does not quite have the intensity on the nose compared to its peers. But it opens nicely with apple blossom and flinty aromas. The palate is well balanced with a smooth, slightly peppery entry, fine acidity, a little over-ripeness towards the finish that just detracts from the definition.
