Decanter, April 2019

After a tough 2017 in terms of frost, Fleur Cardinale returns to a more normal blend this year and has produced a very beautiful wine. This is, as ever with this cooler terroir over to the west of St-Emilion, a little...

jamessuckling.com, February 2021

Blackcurrant, clove, walnut-husk, tobacco and pine-cone aromas. Dried flowers and mocha, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, tight-grained tannins. Polished layers of dark fruit and wood notes with a long, chewy...

jebdunnuck.com, May 2019

(92-94+) The 2018 Château Fleur Cardinale shows the subtle change in style at this estate, offering slightly more elegance and finesse while still packing plenty of fruit and texture. Coming from a 23.5-hectare vineyard...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, March 2021

Full-bodied, round, lush and polished, this richly textured wine is filled with espresso, dark chocolate, licorice, and dark red fruits. The wine is round, full of flesh and flash with an endless supply of dark chocolate...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2021

(94+ points) Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Fleur Cardinale—composed of 74% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon—leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of wild blueberries, crushed blackberries...

Chateau Fleur Cardinale is located on a limestone plateau just a few miles from the historic village of Saint-Emilion. Due to continuous investments in the vineyard and in the winery, and its consistent quality, Chateau Fleur Cardinale was promoted to the rank of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe in 2006, and re-confirmed in 2012.

In 2011, the owners also acquired Chateau Croix Cardinale, next to the main estate. They now offer four wines: Chateau Fleur Cardinale, Chateau Croix Cardinale, Secret de Cardinale, and Bois Cardinale.

The two properties include 23.5 hectares for Chateau Fleur Cardinale and 4 hectares for Chateau Croix Cardinale. Both vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soil in the middle of the hillsides, and enjoy an identical harvest time.

Varietal distribution is 75% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The growing methods used at Chateau Fleur Cardinale are traditional, and the thinning of crops and leaves is done without chemicals.

The grand vin of Chateau Fleur Cardinale displays a deep color and powerful ripe fruit aromas mingling with floral notes. Feminine in style, the wines have a seductive, rich mouth-feel, underpinned by elegant, silky tannins. The finish is long and harmonious, promising very long aging potential in bottle.
