(94-96 points) Stepping up on the serious scale, the 2018 Les Forts De Latour checks in as a mix of 65.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and just a splash of Petit Verdot. It boasts a deeper purple color as well as...

(94-95 points) A solid and steely red with lots of blackcurrant and blueberry character. Medium-to full-bodied and polished, fine tannins. Flavorful finish.

TheWineCellarInsider.com, April 2019

(93-95 points) With depth of color, this wine is loaded with layers of sweet, ripe, lush, intense, pure black currants and just a hint of citrus and cocoa. You'll also find tobacco and fresh, red pit fruits. The wine...

The Wine Independent, March 2024

A blend of 65.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 0.4% Petit Verdot, Les Forts de Latour 2018 has a deep garnet-purple color. It storms out of the glass with powerful scents of blackberry pie, boysenberry preserves...

(93–95 points) Barrel Sample. This second wine from Château Latour is impressive in a juicy black fruit flavor and firm tannins. It is opulence in feel yet well structured. It will age well. — Roger Voss

Vinous, February 2024

The 2018 Les Forts de Latour is surprisingly approachable. It boasts serious concentration because of the warm dry summer and ensuing low yields, yet the intensity of the fruit pretty much covers the tannins, quite...

Wine Spectator, March 2021

This is a gorgeous combination of cashmere and graphite, with racy edged cassis and blackberry fruit supported from underneath while light violet, anise and black tea details add range through the finish. A sleek and...

Decanter, January 2024

Richly perfumed on the nose, so aromatic and scented in a heady way - ripe strawberries and blackcurrants. A bit more subdued than I was expecting with a crushed stone texture to the tannins, less plush - more serious...

janeanson.com, March 2024

In the line up, this is a year older than the Pauillac de Latour, but very clearly deeper and more intense in colour, reflecting the 24hl/h yield after a challenging growing season first with mildew and then with the heat...

Chateau Latour, one of Bordeaux’s oldest and most famous wine producers, is a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. It’s located in Pauillac near the border with Saint-Julien.

Vines have existed on the property since the 14th century, but Chateau Latour first began producing wines of great quality in the early eighteenth century. The estate gradually came to specialize in wine production, with 38 hectares of vines in 1759 and 47 hectares in 1794.

The vineyard currently has 78 hectares in production. The grapes from the 47 hectares surrounding the chateau, known as “L’Enclos”, are used in the production of the Grand Vin. The 30 hectares outside of the Enclos are used for the Forts de Latour and the Pauillac wines. The estate is planted with about 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot on gravelly hilltops and clay subsoil.

Allow me to introduce the gem that is the 2018 Les Forts de Latour 2024 Ex-Chateau Release. This exceptional red wine hails from the prestigious region of Bordeaux, specifically the sub-region of Pauillac, France. Renowned for the quality and character of its wines, Pauillac is the birthplace of some of the world's most illustrious wines, and this offering from Les Forts de Latour is no exception.

The 2018 vintage of this exquisite Bordeaux blend elicits a symphony of sensations. As you uncork this bottle, sealed with traditional cork closure, you're instantly greeted with a chorus of complex aromas. The bouquet is a harmonious blend of ripe, dark fruits, subtle earthiness, and hints of spice and oak, a testament to the terroir from which it hails.

As you pour this wine, the deep red color paints a picture of richness and intensity, hinting at the depth of flavors that await. On the palate, this Bordeaux blend doesn't disappoint. It exhibits a beautiful balance of ripe, juicy fruit, structured tannins, and a well-integrated acidity. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a memorable impression.

The 2018 Les Forts de Latour 2024 Ex-Chateau Release is a true embodiment of its origin. It reflects not only the characteristic traits of the Bordeaux blend but also the unique qualities of the Pauillac terroir. It's a wine that intrigues, entices, and ultimately, satisfies, making it a splendid addition to any wine lover's collection. As with many wines from this region, it promises to evolve and mature beautifully over time, making each uncorking a new and exciting experience.
