Beautiful black- and red-cherry, currant and baking-spice elements combine around a core of classic elegance and length, finishing in cigar box. The fruit is from four estate sites. Consider buying caseloads. VIRGINIE BOONE

Deep purple, with oustanding notes of blackcurrants, cedarwood, graphite, and leafy herbs, this medium-bodied, elegant 2018 has plenty of mid-palate depth, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. It's going to deliver loads of pleasure over the coming 15 years.

Juicy and forward, with enticing plum, boysenberry and plum compote flavors. Light licorice threads stitch up the finish, along with a flash of sweet spice. Drink now through 2027. — J.M.

Its nose is floral and displays a bevy of dark fruit character with no overt new oak usage. Finishes crisp, satisfying and refreshing. It’s hard to ask for more at this price.

A rich, layered red with berries, some walnuts and spice. Full-bodied and chewy with lots of tannins now. Needs time to soften. Try after 2023.

The medium to full-bodied palate is filled with a compelling purity of black fruit flavors and lovely freshness, textured by soft, plush tannins, finishing long with an exhilarating pepper and spice burst. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Turnbull Wine Cellars

Turnbull Wine Cellars has been rooted in the culture and history of the Napa Valley for more than 35 years, operating as a small, family-owned, multi-generation business from their original estate winery in Oakville. They offer enduring Cabernet Sauvignons—elegant, structured wines crafted from their four estate vineyards throughout Oakville (Leopoldina, Fortuna, and Turnbull) and in Calistoga (Amoenus). The wines age in 100% French Oak barrels and bottle for an extended period before release.
