(96-98 points) Not racked. Glowing pale yellow. There is an enormous weight of fruit on the nose, but beautifully balanced at 13.8% alcohol. Absolutely sensual in fruit style with a spicy weight behind, a very long finish, picked at the perfect moment, because you have everything you want, but no excess. Sunshine, not heat!

(93-95 points) Vaguely exotic aromas include those of both white and yellow orchard fruit, especially peach, along with touches of honey and tea. The rich, full-bodied and powerful flavors that are at once plump yet reasonably precise on the impressively persistent finish. This needs to develop better depth but the underlying material appears to be more than sufficient for that to occur in time.

This is produced from a 0.16ha organically-farmed parcel of 60-year-old vines that Leroux has purchased with investors near the southern end of the appellation. The whole clusters are pressed and fermented on native yeasts in cask (15% new). There is a remarkable purity of fruit here and a subtle nature that takes time to fully develop. The wine has a ripe pear fruit character, plus hints of white flowers and spice. The elegance and finesse continue to echo on the lingering finish.

(92-94 points) The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a clean, precise bouquet displaying impressive mineralité and tension. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Fine focus here, good energy and precision leading to spicy and persistent finish. Maybe not as classy as other Bâtard that I tasted, but let's see how it will show in bottle. -- Neal Martin

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is generous, bursting with aromas of pineapple, sweet orchard fruit, honeyed peaches, white flowers and buttery oak. Full-bodied, rich and fleshy, it's a ripe but lively wine with a demonstrative, sun-kissed personality.- WK
