jebdunnuck.com, February 2022

98+ Deeply colored, the 2019 Côte Rotie La Mordorée is the flagship Côte Rôtie, offering gorgeous blackberry and black raspberry fruits as well as scorched earth, flowers, and peppery herbs. This beauty is full-bodied...

Decanter, June 2023

Smoky, with blackberry and blackcurrant notes and flinty freshness. Extraordinary structure, like steel fibres running through the wine. Incisive acidity, finishing confident, firm, dry and powerful. A savoury expression...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2022

One of the top Chapoutier Côte Rôties I've ever encountered, the 2019 Cote Rotie la Mordorée offers up complex notes of violets, mixed berries and delicate dried herb nuances on the nose. It's quite floral, yet there's a...

jamessuckling.com, February 2022

Plenty of smoke, leather and pepper on the nose of this youthful Cote-Rotie. The fresh and focused palate is driven by concentrated, racy tannins that provide so much drive and energy. Great black-fruit and wet-stone...

Chapoutier La Mordoree is made from Syrah vines of more than 60 years in age, from vineyard plots located on the border of the “Cote Blonde”. The grapes are hand-harvested at maturity, entirely de-stemmed and vinified in concrete tank. The wine is aged in oak casks, some new, for 14 to 18 months.

The wine has a deep red color. It has aromas of raspberry, a hint of violet, predominant of spices, a touch of black olive and “tapenade”, and rosemary. It has an ample and elegant taste, very well-structured and balanced. Depending on the vintage, the wine can be kept from 30 to 60 years or from 50 to 75 years.
