A ripe and layered red with lots of currant and chocolate character, as well as some walnut and cocoa powder. Crushed stones, too. It’s full and layered with round tannins and a juicy and plush texture. Crushed velvet...

Decanter, January 2022

Gorgeous floral aromatics, so perfumed and pretty, really leaping out the glass with an amazingly vibrant pink/purple colour too. Such an excellent delivery of flavour on the palate, you have shiny, bright fruit and...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, March 2022

Freshness and purity is the hallmark of this wine. The intensity of the perfume, with all of its violets, lilacs, and roses, along with tobacco leaf, black and red fruits, wet earth, spice, and smoke are...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2022

The 2019 Giscours has turned out very well in bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, burning embers, lilac and violets framed by a discreet patina of new oak. Full-bodied, layered and...

Another reminder of just how balanced and delicious the 2019 vintage is in Bordeaux. Hits the graphite, slate and raspberry leaf notes that bring you firmly into Cabernet Sauvignon territory, with its dark but bright...

jebdunnuck.com, April 2022

(94+ points) Checking in as a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, the 2019 Château Giscours is one heck of an impressive Margaux. Deep purple-hued, with a great nose of both black and blue fruits as well as...

Vinous, February 2023

The 2019 Giscours has a well-defined, quite tertiary nose, very precise and minerally, detailed and effortless. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fresh on the entry, quite edgy with a lively, almost...

Wine Spectator, January 2022

Really solid for the vintage, with a fresh edge to the mix of black currant, blackberry and fig paste flavors. This wine's energy extends through the finish, where humus, singed cedar, savory and iron-tinged minerality...

Chateau Giscours is a large wine estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux. it was rated as a third growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.

Giscours has a long, rich history which can be traced back to the 14th century. The real beginning came in 1552 when Pierre de Lhomme, a wealthy Bordeaux draper, bought a nobleman’s house called “Guyscoutz”. He proceeded to turn it into a vast estate and planted the first vines.

It was in the 19th century that the estate gained much of its finery and reputation, with transformation of the chateau into a neoclassical palace, the modernization of production facilities, and the construction of large buildings. In 1995, the property was acquired by Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma.

The Giscours vineyard has 102 hectares, planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot on gravel and sand. A 63-hectare plot, adjacent to Giscours but outside the Margaux boundary, is bottled as Le Haut Medoc de Giscours.

The first label of Chateau Giscours has great finesse and elegance. The aging potential of this great wine is between 8 and 20 years or even more for the most exceptional vintages.
