First released in 2005 as a special project of Tenuta Sette Ponti's Antonio Moretti, Orma translates to “mark” or “footprint”. A blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc, the wine is aged for 12 months in French barriques. Delighting critics and connoisseurs alike, this single-estate Super Tuscan has received many awards and accolades.

The 2019 Orma Proprietary Blend is a red wine from the Bolgheri sub-region of Tuscany, Italy. Produced by Orma, this wine is a blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc. It is sealed with a cork and has an alcohol content of 15.0%.

This wine has received favorable reviews from multiple professional reviewers. Decanter awarded it a score of 94, noting the wine's origins from 20-year-old vines situated between the renowned Ornellaia and Sassicaia vineyards. According to Decanter, the wine exhibits "perfumed red and black fruits alongside spicy eucalyptus" with present tannins that "coat the mouth with dense blackcurrant flavours." They describe the wine as having power and freshness, though it is currently tight and somewhat closed, suggesting it will benefit from a few years of aging.

James Suckling, who gave the wine an impressive score of 97, described it as "tight and powerful" with "solid tannins that beautifully frame the fruit." He highlighted its full-bodied nature and intense structure, claiming it might be the best Orma ever produced. Suckling recommends waiting until after 2025 to open a bottle.

Jane Anson, writing on her website, also praised the 2019 Orma, scoring it 93. She emphasized its impressive Bordeaux blend characteristics, noting the fragrance and spice contributed by the Italian climate. Anson pointed out the wine's well-drawn tannins and a clear emphasis on spice notes, complemented by eucalyptus edging. She remarked on the high alcohol content but found it well-balanced, suggesting the wine will age well over the next decade. Anson advises decanting the wine for a few hours if consumed now.

Monica Larner from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave the wine a score of 95. She described the 2019 Orma as having a "soothing display of ripe fruit" including blackberry, candied cherry, and spice, with a hint of white pepper and red chili flake. Larner noted the round and soft mouthfeel with a pop of sour cherry, highlighting the unique soil composition of the vineyards, which are rich in pebbles and clay with some sand.

In summary, the 2019 Orma Proprietary Blend is a highly regarded wine with excellent reviews, praised for its powerful structure, balanced tannins, and potential for aging.
