Gooseberry and white chocolate on the nose, pure, precise and clean with lemon and nectarine nuances. So unctuous and juicy, really mouthfilling, generous and so welcome. Lovely elements of tart oranges, juicy crunchy apples, clean peach with a chalky element but soft - there's so much to like here really balancing the Sauvignon Blanc tang with Semillon richness. Focussed and straight, the right side of piercing, but so much expansion too giving weight and structure. Still quite tense with flavours of white flowers, salted caramel, mouthwatering peach and honeyed lemon. Rich, characterful and so moreish.

The 2020 Grand Village (Lafleur) Blanc is mostly Sauvignon but includes 15% Semillon. It’s a medium-bodied, vibrant, downright racy white that brings beautiful concentration and depth on the palate, with bright acidity, terrific overall balance, and classic Sauvignon notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, white flowers, and mint. It has a distinct salinity on the finish and is going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and evolve for a good decade in cold cellars. It’s another incredible white from this team.

An unusually focused and personality-filled Bordeaux blanc, with grip and density through the mid palate, plenty of white peach, sage and apricot pit, savoury rather than sweet. This is enjoyable with a slate edge that gives texture. Old vine Sémillon adds an extra dimension perhaps, but it is very much a reflection of the skill and thoughfulness of the team, led by Baptiste Guinaudeau of Château Lafleur.
