The 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes selected for the production of Ciacci’s Brunello di Montalcino “Annato” are sourced from 16.5 hectares of vineyards composed of medium-grain, marl-rich soils. The altitude of the vineyards varies from 650 to 1,300 feet.

Fermentation is in temperature-controlled stainless steel and glass-lined concrete vats. The wine is aged for 24 months in 20-85 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 4 months bottle aging.

The color of the wine is ruby red verging towards garnet. The bouquet is intense, fruit-forward, spicy and floral with hints of red berry fruits enriched by delicate spicy notes. The wine is warm, soft and very well balanced on the palate. It is structured with soft tannins and a long aftertaste. It is an ideal companion of roasted and stewed meat, game and mature cheese.

The 2020 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino is a Sangiovese Grosso varietal from the renowned Tuscany region of Italy, specifically hailing from Brunello di Montalcino. This wine is produced by Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona, a respected name in the wine industry, known for crafting wines that reflect the traditional elegance and depth of the region.

As a red wine, it embodies the classic characteristics of Brunello di Montalcino, typically known for its robust flavor profile and potential for aging. While specific reviews for this vintage haven't been provided, the winery's reputation and the appellation suggest it would possess the typical traits of a Brunello di Montalcino, such as a balance of rich fruit flavors, earthy undertones, and firm tannins. The Sangiovese Grosso grape is known for its ability to deliver complex flavors, often including cherry, plum, and hints of spice, with a structure that supports long aging.

Given its provenance, the 2020 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino likely offers a harmonious blend of fruit and acidity, making it a potentially excellent choice for pairing with hearty Italian dishes, such as osso buco or a rich, tomato-based pasta. The wine's depth and complexity would make it a notable addition to any wine enthusiast's collection, promising development and evolution over time if cellared properly.

Overall, this Brunello di Montalcino exemplifies the quality and tradition expected from Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona, standing as a testament to the winery's commitment to producing wines that capture the essence of their Tuscan roots.
