Patria Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from talented winemaker Tony Biagi. Culling from his background as winemaker for Duckhorn, Plumpjack, CADE, and many other projects, Biagi started this personal label in 2013 with his friend Kimberly Jones. Biagi selected the Oakville Ranch Vineyard below the prized Weitz Vineyard to source his grapes. The wines show gripping, structured tannins and mineral and tobacco leaf characteristics that reflect their high-altitude, volcanic, hillside terroir.

The Cabernets tend to be concentrated and intense with rich layers or fruit. Due to their structure, the wines are age-worthy and can be enjoyed for decades.

The 2021 Patria Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine from the Napa appellation in California's North Coast region. This wine, produced by Patria, is composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, with additions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. With an alcohol content of 14.8%, it is closed with a cork.

According to Jeb Dunnuck, this vintage marks the first time younger vines have been pulled out to enhance quality. Dunnuck describes it as having a "stunning nose of pure cassis, graphite, crushed stone, darker chocolate, and baking spices." He goes on to say that it is a "full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, yet polished Cabernet Sauvignon with incredible tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish," awarding it a high score of 97 points. Dunnuck also highlights the limited production of only 300 cases, noting it as "one of the great values out there in truly great Napa Cabernet Sauvignon" (jebdunnuck.com).

Vinous also praises the wine, giving it a score of 96 points. They describe the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch as "superb," mentioning its "bright acids and veins of tannin" that contribute to its "potent, brilliant" character. The review emphasizes the wine's "vibrancy and youthful intensity," marking it as a standout in the Oakville Ranch lineup. However, Vinous notes that production is down 40% from previous years (Vinous).

The Wine Independent provides a barrel sample review, rating it between 95 and 97 points. They describe the wine as "deep garnet-purple in color" with "fragrant notes of crushed red and black currants, violets, and tar, with suggestions of black truffles and pencil lead." The palate is "full-bodied" and "filled with energetic black berry and mineral layers," framed by "fine-grained tannins and a lively line," finishing "long and earthy" (The Wine Independent).

Overall, the 2021 Patria Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is highly regarded by multiple reviewers for its complexity, balance, and vibrant character. The limited production adds an element of exclusivity, making it a noteworthy choice for Cabernet Sauvignon enthusiasts.
