Produttori del Barbaresco’s 2021 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is a traditionally built, site-driven Nebbiolo from one of the cooperative’s most important crus. Made only in top years as a single-vineyard Riserva, Rabajà is also the estate’s most naturally muscular and inward-facing bottling in the lineup, and 2021 leans into that profile with notable concentration and structure.

Critical reception is excellent across the board, led by two standout 98-point reviews. Wine Spectator calls it “powerful yet reserved,” citing “a core of cherry, raspberry, rose, earth and eucalyptus,” plus “flashes of orange peel and amaro,” and concludes that “there’s a majesty to this red and the sense of a thoroughbred waiting to emerge” (98 points, Wine Spectator). Jeb Dunnuck likewise awards 98 points, praising its “excellent balance” and “beautifully shaped tannins,” adding, “I love the structure here as well as the overall harmony of the wine,” with a suggested window of 2027–2050 (98 points, JebDunnuck.com).

Several 97-point notes reinforce the theme: intensity now, with payoff later. Antonio Galloni describes the wine as “dark, powerful and explosive,” but notes it is “brooding” and needs time; with air, “it’s magnificent” (97+ points, Vinous). Kerin O’Keefe calls it “the most structured and brooding Riserva” from the producer, highlighting new leather, red cherry, forest floor, spices, and “firm, well-integrated but clenching tannins” (97 points, KerinOkeefe.com). Decanter emphasizes Rabajà’s “resolute backbone,” with sweet herbs, juniper, orange and baking spice, and “stony and finessed” tannins that “will require time” (97 points, Decanter). Production was about 19,431 bottles and 1,951 magnums (Jeb Dunnuck), making this a serious, cellar-oriented Rabajà with top-tier critical validation.
