Adega Damm’s Clos Ladredo Viñas Viejas 2022 is a small-production red from the steep, terraced slopes of Ribeira Sacra in Galicia, made by Danish vintner Martin Damm. The wine comes from the Amandi area and is rooted in the region’s demanding “heroic viticulture,” with vineyard work and harvesting done by hand on slate-leaning hillsides. It’s positioned as a minimal-intervention, terroir-first project, typically relying on spontaneous fermentation and restrained sulfur use.

Critical reception for the 2022 is notably strong. Vinous awarded 93 points, with Joaquín Hidalgo noting that it “hails from Doade, Ribeira Sacra, sourced from vines over 90 years old,” and adding that it is “compact yet elegant.” Hidalgo reports an élevage of “15 months in used oak barrels,” and describes a profile marked by a “violet hue” and “pomegranate, herb and cedar notes.” On the palate, Vinous calls it “juicy and medium-bodied,” with “concentration and flavor,” and a finish that is “long and slightly tight,” suggesting structure and some youthful restraint.

JamesSuckling.com rates it even higher at 94 points—an excellent review—and senior editor Zekun Shuai emphasizes the wine’s clarity and energy, citing “excellent depth” and aromas of “wild blueberries, red cherries, lavender,” alongside “hints of iodine, peppercorns and funk.” Shuai highlights the shape and grip, writing that “tight, stemmy tannins balance the fruitiness,” giving “verticality and width,” with “a touch of austerity thanks to its fine chewiness.” Despite that firmness, the overall impression is confidently positive: “quite attractive, long, juicy and pristine,” with the straightforward recommendation to “drink or hold.”

Taken together, the reviews point to a medium-bodied, site-driven Ribeira Sacra red that combines dark-and-red fruit with floral lift, savory complexity, and a structured, age-worthy frame.
