Decanter, July 2025

The drought and heat of 2022 pushed vines in Tuscany to their limits, and the outcome in many cases are wines of density and concentration but with a vein of freshness – and that's exactly what we see here in the 2022...

More elegant than powerful and more approachable than usual, with stunning concentration and complexity. Aromas of subtle cassis, toast, herbs and a refreshing balsamic touch. Firm on the palate, with a full body, velvety...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2025

This is a classy and very elegant expression. The Marchesi Antinori 2022 Solaia is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller parts Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese. The tannins are beautiful in this wine, very well managed with...

Vinous, July 2025

The 2022 Solaia is dark, layered and exceptionally beautiful. Like Tignanello, it has gained notable depth and complexity, especially in the mid-palate. Black cherry, plum, graphite, mocha, lavender and dried herbs all...

Solaia is a 50 acre (20 hectare), southwest-exposed vineyard of the Tignanello estate situated between 1150 and 1320 feet (350-400 meters) above sea level on stony soils consisting of calcareous clays and limestone rock. The Marchesi Antinori produced this wine for the first time in the 1978 vintage with a blend consisting of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, repeating the initial production in 1979. In the following vintages, 20% Sangiovese became part of the blend and adjustments to the ratio of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc were made until the current composition of the blend was defined. Solaia is produced only in top vintages and was not produced in 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984, or 1992.

The 2022 Antinori Solaia IGT is a proprietary blend wine hailing from the renowned Tuscany region of Italy. Produced by the esteemed Antinori family, this red wine stands as a testament to the family's long-standing tradition of winemaking excellence.

This particular vintage, like its predecessors, is crafted with meticulous attention to detail. While specific varietal percentages are proprietary, the blend typically includes a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and other grapes, each contributing to the wine's complexity and character. The absence of detailed reviews at this time limits the insight into this specific vintage's tasting notes and critical reception. However, the historical reputation of Solaia suggests a wine that is likely to exhibit a deep, rich color, with a bouquet that may include notes of dark fruit, leather, and a hint of spice, characteristic of the region's terroir and the blend used.

Antinori's Solaia has consistently been recognized for its excellence, often praised for its balance, depth, and aging potential. It is a wine that typically garners high scores and positive reviews from professional critics, who appreciate its structure and elegance. While the specific details of the 2022 vintage's reviews are not available, the anticipation surrounding its release is palpable among enthusiasts and collectors alike.

In summary, the 2022 Antinori Solaia IGT is a red wine expected to uphold the high standards set by previous vintages. With its roots firmly planted in the rich soil of Tuscany and a legacy of quality from the Antinori family, this wine is poised to be a noteworthy addition to any connoisseur's collection, pending further reviews.
