(93-96 points) Grown in Les Languettes, below the forest, also weighing in at 14%. A very pretty pale primrose colour. Shows the oak and needs refreshing, but there is an extra dimension here, a firm mineral backbone to cut through the significant flesh. A little more all round.

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has an impressive nose: orange pith, beeswax and white flowers, with just a very clever reduction sitting in the background rather than up front. The palate is well balanced with a veneer of oak to be subsumed, but there is plenty of fruit to soak that up. Orange pith, peach skin and a light walnut note, cohesive with a poised finish-this is a quite compelling Corton-Charlemagne. Bottled under Diam 30. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
