The grapes used to make Domaine Tempier Bandol Rose come from selected parcels where the vines average 20 years old. The yields are low, which explains the intense concentration and distinct expression of each varietal in this wine. The Mourvedre gives this rose its strong character, balance and complexity. Fruity and floral on the nose, the palate is rounded and full with flavors of peach and pomegranate, followed by delicate spice notes and a pleasant, crisp freshness.

The grapes for the rose are harvested by hand. In the ripening process, the estate aims for a hint of freshness with some acidity and slightly less alcohol than for the red wines. The harvest takes place over a one-month period from the last week of August onwards. Harvested into 30kg crates, grape selection takes place in the vineyard and in the chai (winery). After full de-stemming, the grapes are pressed to obtain their juice and cold maceration is performed to extract the fruit aromas and achieve the desired pale color. Vat bleeding techniques are rarely used. The wine is then vinified by the traditional method used for making white wine, with careful temperature control. The rose is stored in concrete vats for 8 months before bottling.

The 2022 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé is a noteworthy example of a rosé wine crafted from a proprietary blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Cinsault. Produced by Domaine Tempier in the Bandol sub-region of Provence, France, this wine showcases a classic Bandol profile with a 13.5% alcohol content and a traditional cork closure.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded this wine a commendable score of 93 points. Reviewer Yohan Castaing highlighted its "stunning aromas of grapefruit, spring flowers, guava, lemon, and iodine." He described the wine as medium to full-bodied, with a "fleshy core of fruit and racy acids" and noted that it has "impressive substance on the finish." Castaing suggests that while the wine is already promising, it could benefit from a couple of years in the bottle to reach its full potential.

Wine Spectator also rated the 2022 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé at 93 points, with reviewer KB praising its "rare concentration" and unique flavor profile. The tasting notes mention "orange Creamsicle, apple, and dried herbs buoyed by minty freshness," along with a "real prettiness" brought out by "rose petal high notes and bitter pithiness." KB described the wine as "creamy and pure on the palate," emphasizing its "pedigree and depth" and suggesting that it is a rosé that could age well, advising consumers to drink it now through 2028.

Overall, the 2022 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé is a refined and complex wine that impresses with both its aromatic profile and palate composition. With accolades from prominent reviewers and a potential for aging, it stands out as a high-quality choice for rosé enthusiasts.
