Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is named after the beautiful large stones that characterize its unique Saint-Julien terroir. Unusual for Bordeaux, it is one of the only castles to be built directly above the barrel cellars and one of the few estates producing a ‘Grand Cru Classe’ still inhabited by its owners. The Borie family has owned this estate and has lived here for over sixty years, in the sumptuous aromas of their wine.

Rated a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Ducru sits on an exceptional site with incomparable views over the Gironde estuary. Its 75-hectare vineyard is planted 70% to Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% to Merlot with an average vine age of 35 years.

Today, the estate is managed by the company Jean Eugene Borie SA, which is owned by Mrs. Borie, her daughter Sabine Coiffe and her son Bruno-Eugene.

Ducru-Beaucaillou is a fine, elegant, and delicious wine with a long finish - in short, an archetypal Saint-Julien. The grapes are hand-picked, and the sorting process takes place on mobile tables in the vineyard to keep the healthy grapes separate from substandard ones. Fermentation is by traditional techniques and only the best fruit is used to produce the wine.

Introducing the 2022 Ducru Beaucaillou, a Bordeaux Blend that hails from the esteemed region of Bordeaux, France. This wine is a true masterpiece, crafted by the renowned producer Ducru Beaucaillou. With its deep red color, it is a captivating sight to behold.

Upon first glance, the 2022 Ducru Beaucaillou exudes elegance and sophistication. Its label alone speaks volumes about the quality and craftsmanship that went into creating this exceptional wine. As you pour it into your glass, you are immediately greeted by the enticing aromas of dark cherries and berries. These fruity notes are beautifully complemented by hints of pencil shavings, vanilla pod, and spices, creating a delightful olfactory experience.

On the palate, the 2022 Ducru Beaucaillou showcases its full-bodied nature and muscular structure. It boasts a core of ripe, yet lively fruit, underpinned by a chassis of powdery, liberally extracted tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This wine is a punchy, modern expression of Saint-Julien, reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of the exceptional 2018 and 2020 vintages.

The esteemed wine critics have also weighed in on this remarkable vintage. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded it an impressive 96 points, describing it as one of the Médoc's most powerful wines. James Suckling was equally impressed, giving it a score of 98 points and praising its creme de cassis and blackcurrant aromas and flavors. Jeff Leve awarded it a perfect score of 100 points, highlighting its inky dark color, dense and intense palate, and silky, refined tannins.

Jeb Dunnuck described the 2022 Ducru Beaucaillou as a wine of class, elegance, and purity, with sensational aromatics and a great finish. Jane Anson was captivated by its confident St Julien character, powerful tannins, and slate finish. Vinous praised its density and muscularity, while Decanter raved about its beautiful nose, crunchy fruit, and excellent precision.

With such high praise from the experts, it is clear that the 2022 Ducru Beaucaillou is a wine of exceptional quality and should not be missed. Whether you enjoy it now or cellar it for the future, this wine promises to deliver a truly unforgettable experience.
