Chateau Haut-Batailley is a Bordeaux blend dominated by a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted both before and after de-stemming.

Prior to fermentation, the grapes undergo a long, cool maceration of three weeks. When fermentation is complete, the wines age from 16 to 18 month in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.

The 2022 Haut Batailley is a captivating Bordeaux Blend that hails from the esteemed Pauillac region in France. This wine exudes elegance and sophistication, with a deep, dark color that hints at the richness and complexity within.

On the nose, the 2022 Haut Batailley reveals a symphony of aromas. Sweet berries and plums mingle with notes of licorice, pencil shavings, and a hint of mint. This aromatic medley is a prelude to the layers of flavors that await on the palate.

Upon tasting, the wine showcases a harmonious blend of black, red, and blue fruits. Blackberry and blackcurrant take center stage, accompanied by nuances of pepper, spice box, and flowers. The wine's structure is firm and powerful, with chewy tannins that add depth and complexity. Despite its strength, the wine maintains a sense of finesse and weightlessness, showcasing its exceptional craftsmanship.

Critics have been effusive in their praise for the 2022 Haut Batailley. Renowned wine critic Jeff Leve awards this wine an impressive 96 points, describing it as deep, long, and intense. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate also gives it a score of 93 points, noting its serious and muscular character.

James Suckling, another esteemed critic, praises the wine's class and focus, awarding it 95 points. He describes the tannins as melting into the wine with finesse, adding to its elegant profile. Jeb Dunnuck concurs, awarding the wine 96 points and highlighting its classic Pauillac characteristics.

The 2022 Haut Batailley is a wine of exceptional quality that will continue to evolve and develop over time. With its powerful structure, it has the potential to age gracefully for decades. This is a wine that demands attention and is sure to impress even the most discerning wine connoisseurs.
