In the glass, reviewers converge on a profile that mixes classic Nebbiolo lift with the extra mid-palate weight of a warm year. Kerin O’Keefe calls it “fragrant and refined,” highlighting “blue flower, red berry, citrus and a balsamic whiff of eucalyptus,” followed by “tart red cherry, orange zest and star anise” and “taut, refined tannins that leave some grip on the finish.” She also flags a key theme for 2022: it is “surprisingly fresh and juicy” despite the heat and drought.

James Suckling’s 94-point review leans into the wine’s aromatic intensity, calling it “bright and overtly fruity… full of intoxicating violets, cinnamon, blood oranges and black cherries,” with “dusty yet velvety tannins and brilliant acidity,” finishing “chocolaty… [with] licorice.” Antonio Galloni (Vinous) rates it 93 and describes “dark cherry/plum fruit, cloves, licorice and mocha,” adding that it is “quite resonant texturally” and, given the vintage constraints, “a stellar showing,” even if “the aromatics could be more lifted and the tannins could use a bit more polish.”

The strongest notice comes from Jeb Dunnuck’s excellent 95-point score. He praises a “seductive yet very pure nose of cherry cordial, crushed roses, sweet herbs, and peppery spice,” and finds “excellent definition and balance,” suggesting a long window: “Drink 2026–2050.”
