Spice-laden red and black fruits, leafy tobacco, savory flowers, and new leather notes all shine in the 2022 Château Tour Saint Christophe, another brilliant wine from this team. I love its complexity, and it's medium to...

The Wine Independent, May 2023

(93-95 points) The 2022 Tour Saint Christophe, 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. It bounds out of the glass with exuberant notions of baked blueberries, juicy black plums, and boysenberry...

Vinous, January 2025

The 2022 Tour Saint Christophe is every bit as impressive as it was from barrel. Rich, ample and quite potent, the 2022 is wonderfully deep and fleshy right out of the gate. A blast of dark red cherry, spice, menthol and...

Always a reliable, consistent name, classified in 2022, a good quality wine with plenty of enjoyable brambled berry fruits. High alcohol as so many of these later ripening clay-limestone terroirs in the vintage, but it...

Chateau Tour Saint Christophe is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc grown on clay and limestone soil. The sorted grapes are put directly into concrete tanks or Bordeaux barrels (about 25% of the harvest). This follows the method of Vinification Intégrale, particularly well-suited for the Chateau Tour Saint Christophe terroir.

The wine is aged in the same barrels for 15-18 months at constant temperature in the underground cellar. Depending on the vintage, the proportion of new oak varies from 30% to 40% with the balance using 1- and 2-year old barrels.

The 2022 Tour Saint Christophe Bordeaux Blend is a red wine from the Saint Emilion sub-region of Bordeaux, France. Produced predominantly from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, this vintage has garnered high praise from wine critics.

Jeff Leve from TheWineCellarInsider.com rates it a stellar 96 points, describing it as "deep, rich, intense, long, and hedonistic," with a finish that lingers with mineral-tinted, red, black, and blue fruits. Jeb Dunnuck echoes this sentiment, also awarding it 96 points, highlighting its "complexity," "fine tannins," and "beautifully integrated oak." He suggests a 3-5 year wait before enjoying it over the following 15+ years.

James Suckling's review, also scoring it 96 points, notes the wine's "great depth and flavor despite high alcohol," with flavors of "fresh blackberries, black olives, and a hint of cocoa powder." He emphasizes its "crunchy, reactive tannins" and a "long and flavorful finish."

Vinous' Antonio Galloni praises the wine for being "rich, ample and quite potent," scoring it 94 points. He describes it as "wonderfully deep and fleshy," with a developing stature over time. Decanter concurs with a 94-point rating, appreciating the "concentrated dark fruit and liquorice notes" and its "lovely purity of fruit" and "sleek" tannins.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rates it 93+ points, noting its "spices, cassis, dark wild berries," and "velvety tannins" with a "racy, pure, fresh finish." The Wine Independent offers a 93-95 point review, mentioning its "deep garnet-purple" color and "exuberant notions of baked blueberries."

Overall, the 2022 Tour Saint Christophe is celebrated for its complexity, depth, and balance, promising a rewarding experience for those patient enough to cellar it for a few years.
