Ramey’s 2023 Woolsey Road Vineyard Chardonnay is a single-vineyard Russian River Valley bottling, sourced from a Martinelli family site planted to Ramey’s specifications. It’s 100% Chardonnay and, judging by the consistency of the critical response, one of the winery’s clear high points in the vintage.

Several reviewers delivered excellent scores. Antonio Galloni calls it “one of the stars in this range from Ramey,” and backs that up with a 96-point Vinous rating, describing a wine that is “creamy and layered, with superb persistence,” where “all the elements are so well balanced.” His flavor set is detailed and lifted—“lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers, mint, white pepper and tangerine peel”—finishing with a simple conclusion: “What a stunner.”

James Suckling also awards 96 points, finding it “very pretty” aromatically before it “gets more concentrated, structured and tense on the palate.” He emphasizes control over heft: “medium-bodied and well braced by citrus acidity,” with “green apples, golden apples, baking spices and Bosc pears in a rich but lively texture.” His advice is flexible: “Drink now or hold.”

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate lands close behind at 95, highlighting an “exotic and perfumed” profile—“peach, lime custard, lemongrass, pie crust and roasted almond”—with a palate that’s “concentrated and sapid with youthfully flinty flavors,” driven by “racy acidity” and “a very long finish.”

Wine Spectator’s 93-point review is comparatively reserved but still strongly positive, praising an “appealing firmness” and a lingering “thread of saline,” and notes production at 833 cases, with a drinking window “now through 2038.” Jeb Dunnuck (96) sums up the through-line: “focused, refreshing acidity” and “cut and energy throughout,” recommending it from 2026–2038.
