The blend is spelled out consistently by reviewers: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc.

Aromatically, critics converge on ripe black fruit with savory and cedar-tinged accents. The Wine Palate (92 points) describes a “deep garnet-purple” wine that “charges out with evocative notes of cassis, freshly crushed blueberries, and juicy black cherries, plus hints of tar and licorice,” then finishes with “lovely purity.” James Suckling (92 points) similarly notes “blackberries, cassis, cedar and tobacco,” with “fine tannins and balanced acidity” and a “textural and fresh” feel.

Jeb Dunnuck delivers one of the wine’s strongest notices at 93 points, calling Turnbull a “notable estate” and highlighting “beautifully pure aromatics of crème de cassis, graphite, crushed stone and violets.” He adds that it is “medium to full-bodied” with a “layered, fresh, focused mouthfeel,” and projects meaningful longevity: “Drink 2025-2038,” saying it should hold “10-15 years if well stored.” That is an excellent review and an unusually specific endorsement of age-worthiness at this price level.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni, 91 points) calls it “positively stellar” and “a total delight,” emphasizing “succulent red cherry, plum, cinnamon, new leather and mocha,” and labeling it “a stellar value and a crowd-pleaser.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (91+ points) goes further, calling it “a super value” and “the rare modern-day Napa Cab under $100 that shows potential for further aging,” with “gently leafy notes, plus cedar, cherries and vanilla,” and a “firm and reasonably tannic” frame with “a long finish.”
