(96-98 points) A brilliant, deeply hued wine, the 2025 Château Beychevelle is based on 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, and is still resting in 70% new oak. One of the earliest harvests ever...

Harvest started 5th September – the earliest on record. Fine smooth rounded nose of juicy fruit followed by a nicely structured wine with a fine tannic backbone. The fruity layer on top promises well for the development...

Château Beychevelle 2025 is the grand vin of this Fourth Growth (1855) estate in Saint-Julien, drawn from deep gravel soils across a roughly 90-hectare property. Barrel samples show a classic Médoc framework with a notably ripe, polished feel. Most reviewers report the same blend: 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, with yields around 31–32 hl/ha. Several note this was the earliest harvest in the château’s history, beginning September 5 and finishing around September 20–21.

The best reviews are excellent, led by multiple 97–98 point assessments. Jeb Dunnuck calls it “a brilliant, deeply hued wine” and highlights “ripe black cherries, graphite, spicy wood, and dried flowers,” plus “velvety tannins” and a “blockbuster finish” (96–98 points). Jeff Leve (TheWineCellarInsider) likewise rates it 96–98 and says it is “among the best wines in the estate’s history,” praising an “elegant, silky, creamy” palate and a long finish with “salinity… licorice, espresso, and cocoa.” Antonio Galloni (Vinous) emphasizes pleasure and early appeal, calling it “plush and exuberant” and “an exceptional Beychevelle, one of the finest in recent memory” (95–97 points).

Stylistically, there’s agreement on strong structure. Decanter notes “gorgeous fragrance… milk chocolate, cherries and violets,” then a “big, powerful, muscular wine but so poised,” adding technical details: 3.6 pH, 13% press wine, reduced maceration, and ageing in 70% new oak. James Suckling’s team describes it as “angular… linear… precise, focused tannins” with “clarity” and balance (95–96 points). Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate is more reserved at 92–93, finding a “toasty, oak-marked bouquet” and an “assertive tannic frame,” while expecting élevage to “bring greater finesse.”

Alcohol is reported around 13.4–13.5%, and early drinking windows suggested by reviewers generally point to cellaring, with Leve recommending 2030–2065.
