FAL 100

Falstaff International, April 2026

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Intense black forest berries, a hint of juniper, herbs and tobacco, blueberries, candied mandarin zest, very multi-faceted bouquet...
JL 100

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2026

(98-100 points) Purple in hue, the wine explodes with an array of flowers, smoky truffles, black plums, black cherries, blue fruits, orange rind, tobacco leaf, licorice, and chocolate in the perfume. However, the palate...
WA 100

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2026

(98-100 points) A blend of 51% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2025 Château Cheval Blanc stands out once again as among the finest wines of the vintage in Bordeaux. Wafting from the glass with a...
WD 100

Winedoctor, April 2026

(97-100 points) A dense and perfumed nose, with fragrant griottes, violets and dark chocolate, but it is really the freshness and intensity of the floral perfume that has the most impact. The palate maintains a slightly...
VN 99

Vinous, April 2026

(96-99 points) The 2025 Cheval Blanc is seamless and textured. A wine of mystery and seduction, the 2025 dazzles. Time in the glass brings out the wine's tension and energy. Sage, mint, lavender, cloves and cool...
DC 98

Decanter, April 2026

One of the lowest yields of Cheval Blanc ever at just 15hl/ha with no Petit Cheval made this year. Chinese five spice, cedar, cinnamon, rose buds, soy, purple flowers, blackcurrants and cherries on the nose. Supple and...
JS 98

jamessuckling.com, May 2026

(97-98 points) Perfumed, with aromas of flowers, brambleberries and wild berries. Medium-bodied with tight, fine tannins that run forever on the palate. Hints of cedar, mushrooms and bark. Crunchy at the end. Just a hint...
TWP 98

The Wine Palate, April 2026

(96-98 points) Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Cheval Blanc needs a little patient shaking and swirling to unlock notes of black raspberries, mulberries, red currant preserves, and pencil shavings, leading to hints...
JD 97

jebdunnuck.com, May 2026

(95-97 points) A saturated purple hue, the 2025 Château Cheval Blanc is a unique, dense, powerful, and streamlined Cheval Blanc with remarkable purity. The nose offers lots of red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with...
TWI 97

The Wine Independent, May 2026

(94-97+ points) Very moderate alcohol level at 12,7 %, low pH. Fresh and fruit driven nose. Very clean, silky and velvety wine with notes of red currants, spices and gravel. This is not a heavy weigh but a fresh and...

janeanson.com, April 2026

Of all the wines I tasted in the 2025 En Primeur season, this is the one that I have thought about the most. The lowest ever yield at 15hl/ha yield, close to 1961 in terms of volume. There were tiny berries, barely...

Formerly known as vin de Figeac, this wine was first sold under the name Cheval Blanc in 1852. The first gold medal won by Cheval Blanc came at the 1878 Universal Exhibition in Paris and that distinction appears on the label.

Each vineyard plot is vinified separately. At the start of fermentation, the juice is gently pumped over three times daily. As fermentation proceeds, pump-over frequency decreases and is eventually stopped when the desired level of extraction has been reached.

The young wine is aged 16 to 18 months in new French oak barrels. Six to seven different coopers are used to ensure complexity and harmony. During this period, the wine is racked by hand five to seven times. Blending takes place after the first three months.
