Château Tour Saint Christophe 2025 is the latest en primeur release from this steep, terraced, clay-limestone site in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, just northeast of Saint-Émilion. Now a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé (since 2022), the estate has been closely watched since Peter Kwok and daughter Karen acquired it in 2012 and restored the historic dry-stone terraces.
The 2025 is an 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc blend, with multiple reviewers citing a September 11–24 harvest and low yields of 27 hl/ha (Jane Anson; Decanter; Jeff Leve). Several also note a notably fresh profile for the vintage, with pH measured at 3.35 (Jane Anson; Decanter). Oak élevage details vary by report, but include around 25% new oak (Jane Anson; Jeb Dunnuck), plus a meaningful role for larger-format wood—20-hectoliter foudres and/or “round foudres”—alongside barrels (Wine Advocate; Jeb Dunnuck). Alcohol is reported at 14.5% by The Wine Palate and Jeff Leve.
Critically, this is an excellent early showing across the board, led by multiple 96-point assessments. James Suckling (96) highlights “delineated dark fruit and precise, delicate tannins” with “a wonderful silky texture and a subtle saline note.” Jeb Dunnuck (96) calls it “concentrated” and “opulent… that ticks all the right boxes,” pointing to layered fruit, graphite, and “crushed stone.”
Vinous’ Antonio Galloni (93–95) is similarly enthusiastic, calling the wine “a stunner” with “remarkable depth and pure power,” yet “an unusual level of finesse.” Decanter (94) emphasizes energy and definition: “crisp but sun-kissed… full of brisk acidity,” with “drive and excellent definition.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (91–93) focuses on structure—“dense and structured… built around a firm, tannic frame”—with mocha, cocoa, violet, and a spicy finish.
Overall, the 2025 Tour Saint Christophe reads as concentrated and mineral-leaning, with freshness and salinity repeatedly flagged alongside dark fruit depth and confident, age-worthy tannins.
