Vinous, 99 points: The 2013 Barolo Riserva Monfortino is brilliant, precise, focused and nuanced, with the classic sense of austerity it has always shown from barrel. In the 2013, readers will find a biting, vibrant Monfortino built along...
jamessuckling.com, 94 points: Aromas of cream, light toffee, mushrooms and plums follow through to a full body, silky tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Very tannic yet the tannins are ripe and polished. Try in 2021.
Vinous, 96 points: The 2013 Barolo La Serra is superb. In fact, the 2013 is one of the most impressive young La Serras I have ever tasted from Roberto Voerzio because the tannins are much more polished than is typically the case here, where...

First time buyer. I was looking at Bordeaux and Brunello di Montalcino, and found a ton of quality wines at good prices from both regions. I briefly checked out the Rhone offerings, and they looked good as well. I'd definitely recommend JJ Buckley if you are looking for higher-end stuff.
