This 50-year-old port is translucent ruby, tinted with orange in the glass. Intensely aromatic, it leads with orange marmalade, orange peel, and dried plum aromas. It is pleasantly flowery, tinged with tobacco, scorched... This 50-year-old port is translucent ruby, tinted with orange in the glass. Intensely aromatic, it leads with orange marmalade, orange peel, and dried plum aromas. It is pleasantly flowery, tinged with tobacco, scorched earth and sweet baking spice. Once of the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced with restrained sweetness and just the right amount of acidity. The aromatics transition nicely in the mouth with a wonderful viscosity that coats the palate and leaves an incredible finish lingering with orange peel notes. It’s in a great drinking window now but you could keep this cellared for another 15 years. Pair with decadent chocolate desserts or cigars.
