Bodegas Toro Albala is one of the Top 100 Spanish Gold Wineries of the 21st century, located right in Cordoba’s charming countryside in the Montilla-Moriles region. It was established in 1922 by Jose María Toro Albalá, but its roots date back to an estate that was founded in 1844 by Albalá's grandfather, Antonio Sánchez Prieto. One of the first to produce single-variety bottlings of Pedro Ximenez, today they are world-renowned for the varietal, offering some of the best examples including vintage dated, single-vineyard releases.

Their Pedro Ximenez wines stand out for their unrivalled artisanal nature: from their extended oak aging (some dating back to before the Spanish Civil War), to their handcrafted labels. An endless number of international awards and reviews endorse these wines which have already conquered many international markets.

Antonio Sanchez Romero, oenologist and owner of the company, aims to preserve the highest quality standards established by his predecessors at Bodegas Toro Albala. In addition to wine, Romero introduced aged vinegar, and Arrope syrup made from the Pedro Ximenez grape to the portfolio.

Step into the world of fine Spanish wines with the exquisite 1980 Bodegas Toro Albala Don Px Seleccion. Hailing from the Montilla Moriles region in Andalucia, this white wine showcases the unique characteristics of the Pedro Ximenez varietal.

In the glass, this wine presents a beautiful golden hue, reminiscent of the Spanish sunsets over the vineyards. Its color alludes to the richness and complexity that await the discerning palate. The cork closure adds a touch of tradition and elegance, emphasizing the attention to detail that goes into crafting this exceptional wine.

Upon the first sip, the 1980 Don PX Seleccion transports you to a world of opulence and indulgence. This wine is the result of a warm and dry vintage, which perfectly facilitated the raisining of the Pedro Ximenez grapes. It boasts an impressive 17% alcohol content, balanced harmoniously with a staggering 340 grams of residual sugar.

Aromas of candied fruit and spice greet the senses, enticing you further into the experience. As the wine unfolds on the palate, complex layers of flavor reveal themselves. Notes of bitter chocolate, licorice, roasted coffee, carob beans, and black pepper intertwine, creating a symphony of taste sensations. The wine's density and pungency are striking, captivating the palate with every sip.

What sets this wine apart is its savory component, which elevates it beyond a mere dessert wine. Despite its high sugar content, the sugar is expertly integrated, making it less pronounced and allowing the other flavors to shine through. This complexity and intensity are a testament to the craftsmanship of Bodegas Toro Albala.

Only 4,600 bottles and 60 magnums of this exceptional vintage were produced, making it a true rarity in the wine world. The 1980 Bodegas Toro Albala Don Px Seleccion is a wine that demands to be savored slowly, allowing its layers of flavor to unfold and mesmerize. It is a testament to the rich winemaking traditions of Spain and a true treasure for any wine connoisseur.
