A partnership between Bordelais Jean-Luc Thunevin (Château Valandraud) and local winemaker Jean-Roger Calvet, this is a sumptuous example of VDN from the Maury appellation in Roussillon. Burnt sienna in color with a pale orange rim, the nose delights with notes of smoky caramel, black figs, honeyed nectarine jam, and spices. The sweet and rich full body offers salted caramel, toasted sugar, and coffee. For a 35-year-old wine, there’s plenty of freshness with a lingering finish. Pairs well with chocolate, blue cheese, and nut-based desserts.
