This Premiers Cru from Nuits St.-Georges has a very dark color sumptuous flavors of ripe berry fruit and an expansive and multidimensional texture. The Damodes is a wine of breathtaking richness power and balance. It should keep until the late nineties. I was enchanted with the quality of the 1985s made here. The wine has a wonderful deep color and is bursting with supple rich fruit and yet also has the requisite structure to age through the decade of the nineties. Gramont keeps 50% of the stems in the fermentation and uses 30% new oak.
