Neal Martin's Wine Journal, May 2009

Sourced directly from Moueix cellars. A little more maturity on the rim compared to the 1990, less glossy than the bouquet on that wine, perhaps with a little more Cabernet Franc showing through. Quite earthy, touches of...

Wine Spectator, May 1999

A traditional wine of autumnal aromas of leaves game and fruit. Medium- to full-bodied with velvety tannins and a big chewy finish. Needs time.--1989 Bordeaux horizontal. Best after 2004.

Chateau Latour a Pomerol is one of the leading Bordeaux wine producers from the Pomerol appellation. Since 1962, Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix has farmed the property, bringing their usual care and expertise to both vineyard and cellar.

The vineyard, with an average age of 35 years, is characterized by its soil diversity. There is loamy soil around the chateau itself with more gravel and clay in the best blocks near the church within the village of Pomerol. The estate has 8 hectares planted, predominantly Merlot with a small amount of Cabernet Franc.

Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix, who own many other properties in both Pomerol and Saint-Emilion, including Magdelaine, Belair-Monange, La Fleur-Petrus, Lafleur-Gazin, Lagrange, Trotanoy, and Hosanna.

Between elegance, power and smoothness, the wines of Chateau Latour a Pomerol show a perfect balance.
