Feudi di San Gregorio is the work of two Irpinian families, Capaldo and Ercolino, who founded the estate in 1986. It lies in the tiny village of Sorbo Serpico in the province of Avellino and is renowned for its focus on innovation, commitment to quality, and dedication to the restoration of historic grapes that reflect the heritage of local viticulture.

The estate offers a wide range of red, white, and sparkling wines. The fruit of their first vintage was made into Nobellum, followed by Fiano de Avellino and Greco di Tulfo in 1992. After two years, they added Taurasi made with Aglianico grapes to immediate success both in the marketplace and with critics.

What makes their wines unique are their extraordinary vineyards and the richness of their terroir: calcareous and volcanic soils create the ideal conditions for viticulture.

From a beginning of about 30 hectares, the estate now has over 300 hectares today. The original vineyards in the zone of Sorbo Serpico are joined by the vineyards of Tufo, Taurasi and Santa Paolina, perched on hills ranging from 1,150 to 2,300 feet. Soils include both calcareous and volcanic.

This release from Feudi di San Gregorio is made from ‘Dal Re Vineyard’ Aglianico. The wine is fermented in stainless steel, and aged 18+ months in large and small barrels, then held an additional 12+ months in bottle.

The wine has a ruby red color and delivers a complete bouquet of cherry jam, sweet spices, licorice, coffee and cacao. It is balanced in the mouth, with spicy minerality and great persistence.
