The 2001 Thorevilos is inky, deep and explosive to the core. Crème de cassis, lavender, spice, menthol and lavender race across the palate. Still young and quite potent, the 2001 remains a tannic beast. I have a hard time saying a 20 year-old wine needs more time, so let's just say it will benefit from a long decant! Time in the glass brings out some of the sumptuousness that lurks beneath. I remember tasting this wine at age ten. The essence of its personality is very much intact. -- Antonio Galloni
