The 2001 Barolo Riserva Vigna Cappella di S. Stefano impresses for its textural elegance and inner perfume. Early signs of tertiary development are evident in the bouquet although the fruit remains notably fresh and vibrant. Sweet spices anise tobacco and herbs are layered into the powerful finish. The 2001 should drink well for another decade or so. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.
