Ripe and open-textured rife with cherry currant and blueberry jam flavors subtlety shaded with spicy slightly smoky overtones that linger along with the fruit on a very persistent finish. A hint of melted wax that is intriguing as well. Best from 2005 through 2015. 8000 cases made. –HS

Medium to deep garnet colored with touch of brick, the 2001 RWT Shiraz opens to notes of tree bark and dusty earth enveloping a meaty, gamey core that is accented by touches of dried berries and potpourri. This year the RWT is tightly wound masculine and stately but all in all a pleasant walk in the dark. Smells like soil meat and char/smoke and tastes likewise with those flavors enveloping black plum fruit on the palate... This year the RWT is tightly wound masculine and stately but all in all a pleasant walk in the dark. Smells like soil meat and char/smoke and tastes likewise with those flavors enveloping black plum fruit on the palate. Juicy but taut on the finish like there's some blue-berries thrown in for good measure. Drink after 2008.
