Starts with an extraordinarily complex refined aroma detailed and inviting in cassis tobacco anise cocoa and smoky oak. In the mouth there's fantastic depth and complexity. The wine is rich profound a star even in its Rutherford stable of thoroughbreds. It has enormous power with finely ground sweet tannins. Absolutely gorgeous now with the stuffing and balance for improvement. Drink now-2017.

Another tremendous effort from this producer supple and harmonious with rich fleshy blackberry black cherry plum and currant fruit that's tight and concentrated. A hint of mocha herb and cedar add a wonderful dimension and the structure is excellent with lively acidity and firm tannins. Best from 2006 through 2012. 2500 cases made. –JL

The dense ruby/purple-colored 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon 20th Anniversary is somewhat closed but gorgeously rich and full-bodied revealing black raspberry cedar cassis and spice box characteristics as well as high quality well-integrated toasty oak.
