Deep gold; a delicious mixture of ripe stone fruit, pear and honey riding on a magic carpet of natural acidity. If you are prepared to gamble with the cork gods, go to it.

This is fully mature to my tastes. Of course - given that it offers an intense burst of citrussy, sherberty acidity - it will hold for many years yet, but the soft toastiness of it and its waxy, furry, cuddly texture make tucking in now a real treat. Texture and length. Honeysuckle and lime leaves. Archetypal aged Marsanne but it feels exotic nonetheless. Terrific drive. Love it.

The 2002 `1927 Vines' Marsanne offers fragrant notes of cashews, preserved lemon peel, lemongrass and acacia honey with a gentle hint of orange blossom essence. Light-bodied and dry, with a fine line of refreshing acidity cutting through the evolved earthy and dried citrus peel flavors, it has a long, layered finish. Delicious now, it should keep to 2017+.
