A classic Eden Valley riesling, just beginning to show some development, this '02 still has a youthful spritz. This is a tight, intense, powerful white wine wrapped in an elegant scent of savory lime. The stony length of flavor will develop further with five or ten more years of age. Anytime from now until then it will be blissful with oysters. At $28 a bottle, you'd be crazy not to buy a case.

18/20 More developed, some lime and toast but also a slight kerosene note. Very complex. Mouthfilling for such an elegant wine but still with a firm acid structure through the middle giving it a lively youthfulness. Lingering and grows in the mouth. Very powerful for a fine wine. (JH)

Pronounced straw and kerosene aromas are beginning to develop on the 2002 The Contours Riesling, over notes of lemon curd, honeysuckle, wet slate and coriander seed. Very crisp with good mid palate weight, the palate is dry and concentrated with a long tangy finish. This one has a long life ahead. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
