New owner Silvio Denz reduced the quantities produced even more than the original owner, and the result is an outstanding as well as reasonably-priced 2004 Faugeres. A blend of 85% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, it boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of graphite, black cherry liqueur, licorice, and smoke. Medium to full body, dense fruit, sweet tannin, and mouthfilling texture and length suggest this beauty will drink well for 12-15 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage. - Robert Parker
