The flagship 2004 Liberalia Liber, from a magnificent vintage (the wine is produced only in the greatest years, 2004 being the first and 2009 the next) was sourced from vines up to 130 years of age. It spent 30 months in new French oak as well as 2 years of aging at the Bodega prior to release. Dense purple in color, it reluctantly surrenders a brooding bouquet of new oak, black fruits, exotic spices, and floral aromas. Powerful but nicely proportioned, it mandates another 8-10 years of cellaring and should see its 30th birthday in fine form. 96+ - Jay S Miller
