Two-thirds Pinot Noir and one-third Chardonnay, this aged a decade in bottle on the yeast, before being disgorged in August 2015. Amazingly fresh, it bursts with subtle, well-integrated flavors of citrus rind, peach, almond and pastry. The length and imposing structure suggest it can age for another decade. The 2005 Extended Tirage Brut lives up to its name: ten years if you want to know the exact length of tirage. And that results in a quite lovely bouquet with brioche, yellow flowers and orange cordial on the precise nose that gently unfolds with each swirl of the glass. The palate is well balanced, soft in the mouth with a prick of acidity to ensure sufficient tension and nervosité. Lemon sorbet and orange zest define that finish, which lingers nicely in the mouth.
