The 2005 Clos du Village was bottled at the start of January of 2007, but it was showing quite nicely. Like the above, this is a monopole of the domaine. This is a more fruit-driven style of Chambolle, as the combination of the later harvest and the bit of cold soak has produced a lovely, fruit-forward style of wine. The nose offers up a mélange of black cherries, plums, chocolate, woodsmoke and a touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is fullish and plummy, with good depth in the mid-palate, fine, suave tannins, and good length and grip on the long finish. Like the above, this was raised in thirty percent new oak, but it is carrying the wood better today on the backend. A good, solid and very honest example of Chambolle villages.
