The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino graces the palate with exquisite layers of crushed flowers tobacco grilled herbs mint and wild cherries. There is a deep soulfulness to this wine that is hard to fully capture with words. Despite its richness and super-ripe racy fruit the Brunello preserves quite a bit of freshness and elegance. Sweet layers of inner perfume weave through the expansive textured fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. -Antonio Galloni

This is round and fruity featuring cherry raspberry and cedar flavors supported by a lively structure. This gets more refined and elegant on the finish despite the firm tannins. Broad, round, sweet and ripe; not especially high-pitched or vibrant but not stewy. This rather silky wine is plush and mouthfilling, even if it doesn't convey the definition of the best examples. Finishes with a suggestion of oak.

17.5+/20 Chocolate, dark cherry, forthright but well-handled tannins – shows the Pacenti Rosso di Montalcino up as a brute. This has the seductive factor. (RH)

What balance and softness to the young Brunello. Lots of berry plum and vanilla bean character with hints of biscuits. Full yet fresh and clean. Very long finish. Best after 2012 but why wait?
