An alluring rendition, featuring black cherry and blackberry notes with a velvety texture and sweet oak and vanilla accents. Firm and harmonious, with a long aftertaste of fruit and spice. Very modern. Best from 2011 through 2020. 75 cases imported. — BS

As one would expect, this is quite similar to the Petit Plets aromatically with more deeply pitched and riper fruit aromas that hint at the sauvage while blending into rich, round, concentrated, robust and textured medium full flavors that are delicious, powerful and serious, all wrapped in a finish where the firm structure arrives with a rush. This should age well over the next decade.

(90+ points) The l'Arlot 2006 Nuits-St.-Georges Clos Des Forets St.-Georges follows suit with the other wines in its collection by exhibiting a soft texture – here, an almost doughty richness – and immediate appeal of ripe fruit. Plum preserves, cardamom and musky, narcissus-like floral notes in the nose lead to a refreshingly juicy yet soothingly creamy palate. Surprisingly, the second wine (Petits Plets) – while it is less rich – displays more pungent and mineral-like counterpoint when compared with this, although it is less rich. I can only assume that this Forets will establish its superiority after some time in bottle, and perhaps even in short order. It should certainly be worth watching for at least 6-8 years.

(90 points) Good full red. Pungent, high-pitched aromas of red fruits, pepper and spices; less expressive than the Clos de l'Arlot but richer. Then high-pitched and intense in the mouth, with a penetrating quality to the sappy red fruit and floral flavors. This rather powerful, vibrant wine finishes quite long, with lingering perfume and serious tannins that reach the front teeth. Today I find this as impressive as the 2005 version. -- Stephen Tanzer
