One of the more nuanced classical expressions of cabernet that you will find in California. It's no wonder since winemaker Rob Davis trained under California winemaking pioneer Andre Tchelistcheff during Jordan's nascent years in the mid 70s. Davis has been at the helm of Jordan for over 30 years now and his cabernets continue to be the most food-friendly produced in the state. They are also some of the most successful restaurant wines in the country. The '06 follows suit with nuanced notes of red currant cranberry raspberry and milk chocolate on the nose. Refreshing and mouthwatering on the palate this is certainly more Old World in style than New with impeccably integrated tannins and acidity that give the wine a unique focus and grip. Warm tertiary notes are starting to emerge alongside mineral subtleties of graphite and chalk. This will pair wonderfully with food now though it will also benefit from long-term cellaring like the archetypes of Medoc cabernet Jordan's longtime benchmark.
