Very dry and tannic, an austere young Cabernet that offering much relief now. You'll find a very rich, concentrated core of blackberries and minerals, brightened by a scour of fine, clean acidity. The odds are heavily in favor of this wine aging well for a decade.

This complex powerful and balanced Napa Cabernet pours an intense deep ruby-black color from the core straight through to the rim. On the nose rich dark fruit aromas of brambly blackberry plum and blueberry give way to compelling undertones of crushed rock anise seed and dark chocolate. Impressive in both muscle and finesse the full bodied palate displays a lovely balance of lush dark fruit and dense velvety tannins that lead the way to a focused and enduring finish. This stunning wine will drink well over the 5-7 years.

(91+ points) Saturated bright ruby. Black raspberry and graphite on the perfumed nose. Sweet, lush and fruit-driven, if a bit less gripping and delineated than the reserve bottling. Showing its sweet oak today but this also boasts excellent inner-mouth perfume. Finishes with serious tannins and excellent persistence. Made from early-picked west-facing vines on Crystal Springs Road, at the base of Howell Mountain just outside the St. Helena AVA, this has a significantly lower pH than Luna's other 2006 cabernets. -- Stephen Tanzer
