Great moment to open this 2007, on the tightrope of tannins and fruit, clear tobacco, earth, blackberry, cassis, chocolate, espresso. Ready to go with still with depth, complexity and heart. 45% new oak. Remi di Constanzo...

Offers a smoky decadent nose of fresh mushroom and red fruits with hints of meat. Medium-bodied with soft tannins and a medium finish. A little loose-knit but pleasing. Drink now. 19165 cases made. -JS

Chateau Gloria is one-of-a-kind, created by Henri Martin who purchased plots piece-by-piece, but exclusively from crus classified in 1855. The 50 hectare vineyard spans three areas: the middle of Beychevelle, the west of Saint-Julien and, on the north, on the border of Pauillac.

The vines include 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot on Gunzian gravel soil over a layer of clay and sand. Average vine age is 40 years.

Chateau Gloria also has a second wine, Chateau Peymartin, produced using the estate's youngest vines.

Chateau Gloria is harvested by hand, with traditional vinification and fermentation in heat-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine matures for 14 months in casks, 40% of them new. Recent vintages have featured jammy fruit, typically prune and black currant, with rich but approachable tannins.
