A spitting image of finesse and elegance, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Mourre des Perdrix (69% Grenache, 15% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, and the balance Cinsault) comes all from the sandy soils located around the estate. It offers lots of kirsch, garrigue and dried earth/sandy loam notes, full body, ultra-fine tannin and a great finish. This cuvee is always the more ethereal and silky of the three single-vineyard cuvees from this estate, and it’s drinking beautifully today. - Jeb Dunnuck

Despite the overall lush and rich nature the palate stays beautifully focused. Superb and this should drink beautifully over the next 15 or more years.

Saturated ruby. Sexy dark berry and kirsch aromas along with notes of potpourri fruitcake and garrigue Broad palate-staining blackberry and boysenberry flavors are framed by velvety tannins and pick up suave floral pastille and Asian spice character with air. The very fresh finish leaves vibrant berry skin and spice notes behind. -JR
