Showing even better than it did a year ago the 2007 Domaine de la Charbonnière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Mourre des Perdrix delivers loads of licorice-laced Grenache fruit full body superb texture and a clean focused finish. Despite the overall lush and rich nature the palate stays beautifully focused. Superb and this should drink beautifully over the next 15 or more years.

Saturated ruby. Sexy dark berry and kirsch aromas along with notes of potpourri fruitcake and garrigue Broad palate-staining blackberry and boysenberry flavors are framed by velvety tannins and pick up suave floral pastille and Asian spice character with air. The very fresh finish leaves vibrant berry skin and spice notes behind. -JR

The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Mourre des Perdrix exhibits plenty of pepper lavender raspberry black currant and floral characteristics. Full-bodied with moderate tannin superb depth and purity and a broad compelling 40-second finish it requires 2-3 years of bottle age and should keep for 15-20 years. 91+
